Welcome to the World History
This site is a working document for Middle School students studying World History. If there are errors, please feel free to email me. Personal Background I had the joy of growing up in a very rural area of the country (sorry, I can't give it away, students use context clues and stories throughout the year to figure out where). After spending six years in the Army Military Police and another two years at Youngstown State University, OH, I entered the teaching field. Thankfully an up-and-coming assistant principal in beautiful Selinsgrove, PA offered me a job. Over the years I have accumulated a variety of Masters degrees and a Ph.D. Only by fending off the siren songs of school administration and higher education have I been able to stay with Middle School students. In the wise words of One Republic, they're old, but not that old and young, but not that bold. |

Travel
Over the years I have been grateful to travel to many continents, countries, and cities. My wife and I took every opportunity finances allowed to explore foreign and domestic geographic wonders with our two sons. From east Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East, and Europe there were more experiences, sites, and foods that any person could enjoy in a lifetime. Many more still await.
I believe the travel allows a unique perspective when teaching World History. It helps give us viewpoints from other regions and cultures that cannot be gleaned from books, videos, or even the Google Maps.

Free Time
Outside of school and travel I ride motorcycles anytime the weather is above freezing. In the summer you may find me at the local mall parking lot teaching riding classes for the PA Safety Program and helping to get others into the sport in a safe manner. I started riding over two decades ago and still enjoy the wind, heat, rain, cold, and noise every day. Ask me about motorcycles only if you have time to endure my enthusiasm. A few years ago I took up another goal of mine; learning to play electric bass. I enjoy music, especially jazz, funk, and anything groovy. Music theory was a new and exciting challenge. Maybe after retirement a band will be in the future? It will be called... "Retired." |
